It is the greatest sermon ever given—but also the most misunderstood. Most of us view the Sermon on the Mount as a list of commands: “Live this way and God will accept you.” But that’s not actually how it works. Jesus’ famous sermon doesn’t primarily give us a list of rules to follow; it gives us a picture of the life of a person embracing the gospel. When you view the Sermon on the Mount through the lens of grace, it begins to change you like nothing else can. Pretty soon, you’ll find yourself stepping into a life more real than anything you’ve ever known.
