Note: Part 1 of John is not a prerequisite to participate! Martin Luther called the book of John “the unique, tender, genuine, chief Gospel.” It is an excellent introduction to Christianity and a treasure to believers—a beauti-ful place to meet Christ. In John 11–21, John recounts at length Jesus’s teaching before his arrest, includes Christ’s remarkable prayer for the church, and again provides a wealth of material that is not found in the other gospels.
